International Ambassador of Dominican Arts, Edwin M Ferreras, is a knowledgeable and enthusiastic teacher of music, dance, and ethnomusicology. Born in San Pedro De Macoris, Dominican Republic, Edwin moved to New York City at a young age where he has studied music education and dance at a professional level.
In addition to being a scholar and educator, Edwin is also a musician, arranger, producer, and international teaching artist. Edwin travels worldwide teaching and performing bachata, bolero, merengue, son and dembow, along with his partner Dakhóta Romero. The couple are widely popular for their innovative methods of teaching connection, musicality, cultural idioms, history and social dance skills, all the while encouraging their students to express themselves in their own unique way.
In 2017 Dakhóta and Edwin founded Areíto Arts, an educational dance company focusing on Afro-Caribbean rhythms and roots. They aim is to educate students on the history, growth, and development of Afro-Caribbean arts. Today they travel worldwide, teaching the arts from a cultural context while captivating the world of dance with their innovative music and dance content.
